ABOUT OUR CLUB
Our club was formed in 2014 primarily for the purpose of sharing information. Whether members learn together from a speaker at one of our monthly meetings, through a field trip to a local garden resource or learn from each other through sharing insights, helping one another is a cornerstone of our club. Yes, we are growing together!
Desert Gardeners is composed of both full-time and part-time residents. Our club season runs from November through April when the majority of our club members are in residence. Whether you have a gardener or you are a do-it-yourself gardener we strive to inspire, educate and support each other in our endeavor to create and enjoy a beautiful desert garden.

MONTHLY MEETINGS
At our monthly meeting we host speakers from the local desert community that share their experience and knowledge on a topic of interest to gardeners. Topics may include using water-wise and desert native plants, growing herbs and vegetables, designing a pollinator garden, insights on fertilizing and irrigation.

OUTINGS AND WORKSHOPS
Our members participate in a variety of outings to local businesses and organizations of interest to gardeners. Field trips may include a visit to a desert plant nursery, orchid farm, agriculture farm growing dates and other produce or a guided wildflower walk to name a few. Club members have shared their experience and knowledge through onsite workshops in their own garden sharing the how to’s of container and raised bed gardening, simple irrigation repair and techniques in planting a tree or shrub.

SPECIAL EVENTS
The club hosts a variety of special events each season that are designed, organized and led by our members.
The Spring Home Garden Tour is held in March and is the highlight of our season. Members visit 6-8 curated gardens within our own SCSH community that demonstrate exceptional garden design, beautiful landscapes and a variety of desert plantings. A reception follows the Garden Tour to complete the day.
Our Citrus RoundUp is an annual event to provide SCSH residents an opportunity to donate their excess citrus fruit from their garden to our club. Club members set up a Citrus RoundUp collection site at the clubhouse parking lot to receive, wash, sort, bag the citrus and deliver it to a local food distribution program that serves 400 families in the Coachella Valley.
