Whether you are discovering desert gardening for the first time or are an experienced gardener adapting to our unique climate, SCSH Desert Gardeners is a place to learn, share, and grow. Together, we explore desert-friendly plants, practical care and maintenance, useful tools, and trusted local resources.
Our monthly meetings feature knowledgeable speakers and timely gardening topics, along with opportunities to participate in local field trips and special activities. Meetings are held at the Montecito Clubhouse on the second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., November through April.

Like many of you I am not a desert native but rather a transplant. A transplant from a totally different growing zone. So learning to grow and cultivate a garden in the desert has been a bit of a challenge. And it’s also been a pleasure. Finding a group of fellow gardeners who could answer my questions, share their secrets and invite me along to their favorite garden nursery has made all the difference. The Desert Gardeners club is that group of gardeners and we welcome you to join us.
Explore the website where you’ll find the collective wisdom of our club members sharing their trusted local gardening resources, insights on how to garden in a desert environment and our favorite places for a gardener to visit around the Coachella Valley. You are invited to be our guest at one of our monthly meetings where you can learn from a local garden expert, visit the
share table to pick up a seedling and meet some of the friendliest residents in our community, the Desert Gardeners.
Better yet, become a member of our club and join us on a field trip, outing and workshop where we explore and learn even more about our desert environment. Members have exclusive access to our Garden Exchange where you can ask and answer gardening questions, borrow a
tool or share plants. Our News page features the most current desert gardening events, articles and information for gardeners. And one of the best benefits of club membership is the annual
Spring Home Garden Tour - a wonderful tour of the most beautiful gardens within our community - at no extra charge.
